A Plan For Ultimate Rejuvenation This Thanksgiving

A few days off for Thanksgiving is typically the first real break of the school year. It is a much-deserved time of rest, relaxation, and rejuvenation after the long stretch of the start of the school year. It also kind of feels like the calm before the storm, that is the Christmas season in the classroom! Yes, there’s often entertaining, cooking, cleaning, or even traveling during this break. This can bring with it a certain amount of stress, for sure.

But I hope that in the midst of all this, we can find some time to engage in the hobbies and pastimes we don’t normally get to do during a regular weekend. Or maybe we can even find time to simply do nothing. I find that when I shut off my “teacher brain” for a few days during a break, I return to school with renewed passion for my job, increased patience, and excitement to try new things. I also have a reignited appreciation for being able to do a type of work that thrills me in a way that nothing else does. So, without further ado…

My plan for Ultimate Thanksgiving rejuvenation

*SLEEP IN. SLEEP IN. SLEEP IN. A true hobby of mine, despite my occasional struggles with insomnia.

*Laugh as much as possible (with friends and family, at silly TV shows – I’m in the midst of a “Friends” binge right now, in case you haven’t been able to tell from my Instagram)

*Engage in some sort of pampering (I’m thinking a pedicure this time around…)

*Eat Thanksgiving comfort food and not feel bad about it

*Engage with pretty things. This is a weird one, I know. But for me this means browsing shops (probably Anthropologie…) with new, pretty Christmas items and decorations, or maybe doing something crafty. This relaxes me and puts me in the holiday spirit.

*Commit to something new. I like to take this pause in the school year to commit or recommit to something new. Meditation? Finding a new book? I’m currently contemplating pick up this book. I’m not sure yet what my new thing will be, but it will be something!

What do you plan to do this Thanksgiving that will allow you to experience rejuvenation and a new sense of calm? Feel free to leave a comment and share some ideas!

Rejuvenate and be well!

Sleeping in is the ultimate way to rejuvenate in my books, it should surely give you back some energy you felt you were missing and very much needed. Also eating well will help keep your energy levels up with some mild exercise will have you feeling better in no time!
